The Pantaloons are away with the fairies…Midsummer night. An enchanted forest. Puck and his musical fairy band tell a timeless comic tale of lovers, mechanicals and magical mayhem. With a cast of just five talented actor-musicians playing all the roles, audiences can expect plenty of quick changes and larger than life characters. This fast paced production, brimming with energy, is sure to put a smile on even the glummest face; with audience interaction, contemporary references, slapstick and original live music all nestled comfortably within Shakespeare’s beautiful verse.
Staged on the grass in front of the Castle, it’s a truly magical setting for this most magical of plays. Bring a picnic and something to sit on, dress for the weather and prepare to suspend disbelief!
Join Mole as he says ‘dang!’ and ‘blast it!’, throws down his broom and sets off on an adventure! On his journey he meets the effervescent Ratty, who introduces him to the wonders of picnics and messing about in boats; Badger, the wise old sage of the woods; and Toad (of Toad Hall), whose exploits cause all manner of mischief and upheaval. With inventive staging, original songs and magical storytelling we invite audiences to enjoy this classic tale of adventure, friendship and al fresco dining, in Boxtree’s unique and energetic way!
A great day out in the company of some interesting, beautiful and strange vehicles – and this year we will have a selection of fantastic and famous vehicles from Motion Picture Motors! If you have a classic car of your own, bring it along for free admission, but please note that pre-registration is essential.
The magnificent riders of Destrier come to Hedingham for two days of spectacular Jousting on the lawns in front of the 900 year old Castle! In custom-made suits of authentic solid steel armour, they clash at approach speeds of 40 miles per hour, in a Tournament as close to the real thing as you will ever experience! Visit their camp, watch them arm and thrill as they do battle! There’s plenty of other entertainment around the main arena, with have-a-go-archery, Living History, Falconry Displays, Period Musicians, the Jester, Coconut Shies, Maypole Dancing, Donkey Rides and the Medieval Grave Diggers! Plenty of food stalls, Real Ale and the Castle Bar! The Castle will be open throughout the day, with tours available, and it’s a wonderful day out for all the family!
This year, the organisers will be aiming for a return to the ‘meeting of friends with a passion for Porsche’ scenario of the early iterations. Consequently for 2017 the moving parades will be replaced with a static chronological presentation on the long driveway to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the advent of the 911S in 1967. This will be one of the most complete line-ups of the 911S in this anniversary year, and will give visitors the opportunity to get close to the cars and their owners.
