Historia Normannis, a 12th century re-enactment society, are staging a triathlon challenge with teams of knights battling for supremacy! Picture medieval murderball with teams trying to knock the crests from opponents’ helmets! The teams will route march and even run a 5km course in full chain mail, and then compete in an archery competition! All in aid of Colchester Samaritans! Surrounding the castle will be a living history camp with an insight into the lives not only of knights and noblemen, but also ordinary people, and how they got through their days. There’ll be falconry displays, and you’ll be able to have a go at archery, and even fire a trebuchet! And of course, a full on, no holds barred battle to round things off nicely! It’s a great day out for all the family, and in addition to the sponsorship raised for the Samaritans, we’ll be donating an element of the ticket price to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
