Hedingham Castle

Castle weddings, civil ceremonies in medieval surroundings

Ceremonies take place within the Keep, steeped in the history of innumerable royal banquets. The largest Norman arch in England is illuminated by candlelight overhead. This room was designed to impress monarchs and heads of state, which makes it a fitting space for any couple to spend their final moments before being joined in matrimony.

The original entrance steps lead you up to the Garrison Floor where you can choose to have refreshments available for your guests prior to your ceremony. This is particularly welcome if your guests have travelled from afar, giving them the opportunity to meet and chat before the ceremony.

From here, guests will make their way up the spiral stairs, possibly the oldest in the country, to the magnificent Banqueting Hall. We can accommodate 100 seated guests with a further 30 standing in the Minstrels Gallery above.

Following the ceremony there are excellent photographic opportunities within the Keep itself, the grounds within the Inner Bailey, by the Tudor Bridge and the formal lake. These exquisite architectural and garden locations will provide a superb backdrop for your everlasting memories.
