Hedingham Castle

Castle weddings, civil ceremonies in medieval surroundings

Imagine getting married in a wonderful old castle where once the Earls of Oxford entertained King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I. The ceremony takes place by candle-light in the magnificent Banqueting Hall where one hundred guests can be seated and a further thirty may watch from the Minstrels’ Gallery above. You can have a traditional modern ceremony or choose a medieval theme with authentic costumes and strolling minstrels. The beautiful grounds offer ideal opportunities for photographs.

The castle, which is now closed to the public on wedding days, is privately owned by Jason Lindsay, grandson of the 28th Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, and his wife Demetra.

The Georgian house may be hired as an elegant location for large or small parties and, during the summer, your champagne reception can be served on the terrace of the peaceful garden overlooking the lake. After this, you and your guests can enjoy your Wedding Breakfast in our lined marquee on the private Tulip Lawn. You will enjoy use of the house and grounds throughout. Our wedding coordinators will be on hand to help you with your plans and to make sure that everything runs smoothly on the day.
