Special Opening

With the release of the new “Anonymous” film we are pleased to say that we have special opening days with our “Shakespeare” exhibition for you to view. Was the bard an Essex boy after all…..

Shop
The castle has a shop with a wide variety of books and gifts for sale, and a pocket money section for children.

Tea Room
Hot & Cold Drinks, Cakes Biscuits and Ice-cream available.

Access
Disabled visitors are very welcome to come and enjoy the beautiful grounds, but access to the castle is difficult as the steps are steep and uneven.

Dogs
Visitors may bring their dogs into the grounds but they must be kept on leads at all times. No dogs allowed into the keep (except guide dogs). No dogs on Special Event Days.
