Kate Denton studied sculpture and casting techniques at Goldsmiths College under Sir Ivor Robert-Jones. Elected to the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1993, she has steadily established a reputation as one of the foremost figurative sculptors working in the UK today.
Her work is all cast into limited edition bronzes with larger works also being available in bronze resin. She has exhibited widely at galleries across the UK, Chelsea Flower Show and the work is held in collections overseas.
Although figurative in style, her strongest interest is in taking the classical traditions and reinterpreting the subject’s form, and so creating images that go beyond mere representation and bring into the sculpture a sense of character and movement. Her work continues to include the human figure but she has worked most broadly on animal subjects. She has completed approximately a hundred private and public portrait commissions.
