Real chivalry returns to Hedingham as the Knights of Destrier, in full metal armour, compete for glory! Jousting with Destrier is as close to the real thing as it gets, in a truly authentic setting! They test their skill in the Hunting Games, they arm themselves, they fight! Surrounding the arena will be craft stalls, a wide range of fabulous food and a host of entertainment! Coda Falconry will put on two flying displays and you can meet the birds in between the jousting! The Norfolk Longbow Men will be demonstrating the art of Archery – have a go! Our Official Jester, Jonathan de Hadleigh, will cause his usual mayhem with his long suffering wife, Judy, but she gives as good as she gets! Musicians, Castle Tours and Living History Displays, Donkey Rides, a Maypole and Coconut Shies provide fantastic family entertainment all day long!
The Porsche Classics at the Castle event will not take place as planned in 2016. The event has become biennial, and the next Classics at the Castle day will be in 2017.
The Pantaloons pay their last visit of the year to present their production of Jekyll and Hide. The performance will be inside the Castle, and seated.
A Wedding Open Day at Hedingham Castle provides the perfect opportunity to look round this most romantic of venues. In 2016, for the first time ever, couples will be able to hold their entire day within the majestic medieval grandeur of the Castle itself, from the Ceremony in the stunning Banqueting Hall, wreathed in candlelight, to the last dance in one of the most unique spaces in England. For more traditional receptions our permanent Marquee on the Tulip Lawn behind the Mansion House will be dressed and full of our selected suppliers. Discuss menus and flowers, photographers and favours, with our wedding coordinators on hand to answer any of your questions.
