To commemorate 800 years since the sealing of the Magna Carta, and the close involvement with the rebel Barons of Robert de Vere, third Earl of Oxford and Lord of Hedingham Castle, we will be staging a spectacular day full of history, rebellion and battles! Knights on horseback, close quarter fighting, excommunications! Amongst all the action, the inner bailey surrounding the castle will be a medieval camp-site giving an insight into the lives of ordinary people, traders and craftsmen. Food stalls aplenty! Fascinating Guided Tours of the Norman Keep! And Riotous Assembly provide a musical documentary! History Happening!

To celebrate this most romantic time of year we’re opening the Castle, House and Marquee for a special Summer Viewing Day to allow couples planning their wedding to look round this most beautiful of venues. No appointments are necessary, and our wedding coordinators will be on hand to answer questions and discuss all the options.

And if you have a classic of your own bring it along for free admission, but please pre-register! We’ll have food vendors and the Castle Bar, the Keep will be open and there are some wonderful walks in the grounds.

Great news! They’re back! The astounding Knights of Middle England! Bold and bright costumes accompanied by stunts such as saddle falls, drags and rearing horses make this a show to remember! The evil Black Knight and his trusty fool cause havoc against the Earl of Warwick and his team of chivalrous Knights! Surrounding it all will be a bustling arena full of craft stalls, a range of food and a host of entertainment! The Norfolk Longbowmen will be demonstrating the art of Archery – have a go! Get close to the Birds of Prey and watch a thrilling flying display! Our Official Jester, Jonathan de Hadleigh, will cause his usual mayhem with his Wife! Musicians, Donkey Rides, a Maypole, Coconut Shies and Face Painting provide constant entertainment throughout the day! Something for all the family in a great day out!
