Saturday 16th Trio Aria 6pm £25

Trio Aria from Italy will perform a recital in the Tapestry Room of the Norman keep. Guests are invited for wine and canapés on the Garrison Floor before the concert, and will be entertained by the soprano Ilenia Lucci, flautist Rebecca Lewis Lalatta and pianist Carmine Colangeli. The trio has a rich repertoire, a chocolate box of musical treats, with Italian arias from well-loved operas, then sacred, classical, film and popular music. The outstanding voice and musicality of the soprano blends perfectly with the flute, in beautiful arrangements written by the pianist. After the concert, guests will return to the Garrison floor for drinks, mingling with the artistes and enjoying a special summer’s evening in a magical setting. Tickets will include two glasses of Italian wine and canapés. Drinks reception at 6pm, recital at 6.30pm and the evening ends at 8.30pm.

In their second appearance at Hedingham Castle, Trio Aria from Italy will perform an interactive concert for children in the Tapestry Room of the keep. Families can have access to the grounds and castle from 4 in the afternoon, with the concert starting at 6pm. Young musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments and a piece of music of their own choice, with piano accompaniment, to perform with the pianist Maestro Carmine Colangeli, after the Trio plays a lively selection of musical greats. Italian soprano Ilenia Lucci, with flautist Rebecca Lewis Lalatta, the two other members of the trio, will capture the imaginations of children and adults alike in magical surroundings. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the gardens before the concert, which will end at approximately 7.30pm.

A great day out in the company of some interesting, beautiful and strange vehicles – and their owners! And if you have a classic of your own, bring it along for free admission! (Pre-registration essential)! We’ll have food vendors and the Castle Bar, the Keep will be open and there some wonderful walks in the grounds. It’s not just a great classic and vintage car show, it’s a great day out for all the family!

Before Zorro, Batman and Superman there was the Scarlet Pimpernel. Paris, 1792. Each day scores of the French nobility are sent to the guillotine. They are trapped in Paris. There is no escape. They leave no trace behind except a nor from ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’. The ruthless spy master Chauvelin is determined to stop the rescuers by fair means or foul and, desperately outnumbered, the Scarlet Pimpernel and his men must use all their wits to evade capture and stay alive. With original songs, spectacular sword fights and a little bit of romance there is something for the whole family to enjoy in this exciting and swashbuckling musical adventure.

Real chivalry returns to Hedingham as the Knights of Destrier, in full metal armour, compete for glory! Jousting with Destrier is as close to the real thing as it gets, in a truly authentic setting! They test their skill in the Hunting Games, they arm themselves, they fight! Surrounding the arena will be craft stalls, a wide range of fabulous food and a host of entertainment! Coda Falconry will put on two flying displays and you can meet the birds in between the jousting! The Norfolk Longbow Men will be demonstrating the art of Archery – have a go! Our Official Jester, Jonathan de Hadleigh, will cause his usual mayhem with his long suffering wife, Judy, but she gives as good as she gets! Musicians, Donkey Rides, a Maypole, Coconut Shies and Face Painting provide fantastic family entertainment all day long!

A Wedding Open Day at Hedingham Castle provides the perfect opportunity to look round this most romantic of venues. In 2016, for the first time ever, couples will be able to hold their entire day within the majestic medieval grandeur of the Castle itself, from the Ceremony in the stunning Banqueting Hall, wreathed in candlelight, to the last dance in one of the most unique spaces in England. For more traditional receptions our permanent Marquee on the Tulip Lawn behind the Mansion House will be dressed and full of our selected suppliers. Discuss menus and flowers, photographers and favours, with our wedding coordinators on hand to answer any of your questions.
