  • Jousting Conquest – Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday - 2nd & 3rd May 10am – 5pm
    Come along to Hedingham and witness a merry spectacle, the chivalric knights undergo a test of skill and nerves, as the horses thunder along tilt with the aim of establishing themselves in a position of rank. Peter Optical the court jester will be here to show his mastery of the skills involved in keeping the mighty lord entertained, marvel at his tales of old. Norfolk’s Longbowmen will be teaching visitors how to take aim like a real medieval archer. The birds of prey will add a timeless edge to the day as they hunt with the mighty keep as a backdrop.

  • Jousting Tournament – Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday – 30th & 31st May 10am-5pm
    History comes to life; Hedingham Castle gives visitors the chance to watch the breathtaking mounted skill at arms event from an era of chivalry, the daring knights will compete to show the lord that they deserve honour and riches for protecting them and their lands. You might think the job as resident rat catcher was dull, but come and meet him and listen to his tales and find out why he was perhaps the most important person in the medieval keep. Watch in awe as Gordon trains his mighty birds of prey to supply the lord with game for his feasting table. Have a go at medieval style archery under the watchful eye of the castle’s archers.
