Snowdrop Update

Well this cold weather has not only affected people, the snowdrops are being a little hesitant to come out and brave the cold. Please keep a check on the blog or give us a call closer to the events to monitor the progress. But remember we still have some wonderful grounds to look around, and also visitors will get the change to view sculptures by Kate Denton in both the grounds and the Keep.

I very big thank you from the team for bringing all the wonderful classic cars to hedinghams annual event. What a fantastic selection of ages and types of vehicles, dont forget to come back in 2010 when we hope to offer the chance of a bit of friendly competition into the mix .

Haunting Hedingham Tickets

Dont Forget to order your haunting hedingham tickets:

Don’t come to Hedingham Castle unless you are brave enough to witness 900 years of spine chilling history. Explore Hedingham’s mighty Norman Keep, historic architecture and Saxon earthworks, the site of sieges and feudal life, in a way that you have never done before. The bats might not be the only residents that you come across.

 

Tickets will be available from the office from 1st September. Please call us on 01787 460261.

 

Bookings start from 6.00pm

You will be booked into a 30 minute slot, placed in small groups of approximately 8 people and sent off into the darkness at 5 minute intervals.

 

Tickets will be sold on a first-come first-served basis.

           

Ticket costs:

Adults £8.00

Children £ 5.00 

Please be aware the route is uneven and may to unsuitable for some visitors, this event is not suitable for wheelchair users.

A relaxing day for all the family as Hedingham Castle showcases some of the regions finest vehicles. Enjoy the beautifully maintained vehicles in the scenic setting of the Norman Keep, extensive grounds and lake.

Come and immerse yourself in the thrilling atmosphere of times past, where the famous “Knights of Royal England “will give a dramatic and thrilling performance this August bank holiday, displaying many advance and complex cavalry skills. The Joust will test and challenge the brave knight’s horsemanship and weaponry skills. Support your favourite Knight in his quest to impress the Royal Household.

 

Learn about medieval food with a display from Falcon and Fetterlock, the lords cook and squire. Jonathan De hadleigh will entertain visitors young and young at heart with his tales of the role of a court rat catcher. Gordon the falconer will be fascinating all, displaying his Bird’s of Prey. The Norfolk Longbowmen will be on hand with “Have a go archery” to give you a chance to see first hand how to aim and fire an authentic bow and arrow.

 

Super Car Day

For this sunday’s Super Car Day, we are expecting over 100 Italian super cars, Ferrari and Lamborghinis, come along and have a look, don’t forget to have a walk around the castle and grounds.

Teddy Bear Picnic Coming Soon

If you go down to Hedingham Castle today (well on the 16th August), you’ll be sure of a big surprise…Bring your favourite teddy to our Teddy Bears Picnic for fun and games. Search for the Hedingham bears. See your teddy try out a parachute (brave teddies who take part, do so at their own risk). Join in the arts and crafts, and will your teddy be crowned best dressed bear?

Big Thank you World War II day

Thank you to all you wonderful visitors and reenactors who came and supported the war effort at hedingham, what a fantastic day, as ever I learnt so much form all the amazingly informed people who bring this remarkable period to life. The live Hugh Rainey Jazz band added so much atmosphere and allowed couples to have a dance. Looking forward to planning next years event.

Our next event at Hedingham Castle is our World War Two event on Sunday 26th July, come along and meet the heros of World War II and learn all about Mend and Make Do from the ladies of the home front,  if you are feeling fit try the Physical exercise plan used by the men of the civil defenders.

Classical Music Evening – Thank you

I just wanted to post a big thank you to all of you who came to our classical music event, I am so glad you all enjoyed it, what a magical evening, the Locrian Ensemble were amazing and the keep with its candlelight banqueting hall was a stunning venue to enjoy the varied programme of Baroque and Romantic music  performed by period costumed string quartet and harpest.
